Whether you’re returning to riding, upgrading to a larger bike, or simply looking to become a smoother, safer rider, ERS provides structured, expert guidance tailored to you.
The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) Enhanced Rider Scheme is a nationally recognised advanced training course. It focuses on real-world riding, helping you refine your technique and decision-making rather than just pass a test.
You’ll receive personalised coaching from a qualified instructor, with ongoing feedback to help you continuously improve.
The Enhanced Rider Scheme is available to riders who hold a full UK motorcycle licence (Category A or A2). This is an advanced course designed to build on your existing skills after passing your test.
Course Structure

Lessons take place over two sessions and covers six hours of riding, allowing time to practise and develop between sessions

Training is tailored to your individual riding ability and goals

Focus on roadcraft, hazard awareness, positioning, cornering, and control

module 2
You must pass module 1 before you can take the module 2 test.
The module 2 test normally takes about 40 minutes and includes:

an eyesight check
-
‘show me, tell me’ vehicle safety questions
-
road riding
-
independent riding
Practice rides around Surrey and Hampshire with DSK will help build your confidence around potential Mod 2 routes.
EYESIGHT CHECK
You’ll have to read a number plate from a distance of 20 metres for vehicles with a new-style number plate

You’ll be asked 2 vehicle safety questions known as the ‘show me, tell me’ questions.
These test that you know how to carry out basic safety checks on your motorcycle.
To simulate the test, David will ask you these questions throughout your training.
ROAD RIDING
You’ll drive in various road and traffic conditions, but not on motorways. You’ll be asked to carry out:

normal stops

an angle start (pulling out from behind a parked vehicle)

a hill start (where possible)
The examiner will give you directions using a radio. They’ll normally follow you on a motorcycle.
Driving test routes are not published, so you cannot check them before your test.
INDEPENDENT RIDING
You’ll have about 10 minutes of independent riding.
This is designed to assess your ability to ride safely while making your own decisions.
You can ask the examiner to repeat the directions if you forget them - you will not fail the test if you go off the route. You cannot use sat nav.
